Chris Hennessey shares several resources, such as the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN), to identify companies that are hiring and firing, and explains how to use LinkedIn to network for individuals who may be on the move and want to roll over their retirement assets or sell company stock.
By law, employers with 100 or more employees must provide 60 days notice of a plant closing or mass layoffs. Advisors may begin by researching WARN notices in their area. Taking the company name and using LinkedIn research capabilities, advisors can identify contacts at that company who may connect them with workers changing jobs. At the same time, many online services publish job openings. Using this research strategy, advisors may identify new clients for their rollover business.
